Hi, and welcome! :D Sad thing is, that we've been thinking on the Finnish-speaking side to possibly lock all the English discussions, because there's not so much activity and there are lots of other TLK boards for English-speaking people. :/ Your time here may not last long, though things haven't yet been decided. :/

Hey Tiikeri! I've seen you on various places, and I've been wondering. What's your story? I mean, when I first saw your username, I thought, "hey, another Finn". But then later I've found out you're actually from UK and don't speak Finnish (?). I've been wondering if you have some connection to Finland. Like, maybe you're interested in learning the language, or have some Finnish relatives? I'm just curious, so that's why I've wanted to ask (BTW, my name says Tintti but I'm still Timali from TLKFAA)

I'm just curious, so that's why I've wanted to ask Long and the short of it is...ever since I heard spoken Finnish (I can't remember where I heard it) I got interested in maybe learning a few words of it. Then I got talking to our very own STM, and in January I went out to meet him. And since then I've wanted to learn Finnish fluently, and to hopefully move out there to work in the future. I don't have any connection with Finland that I know of...we're all pure Welsh I think

You're Welsh? Forgive me if this is a silly question, but does that mean you speak Welsh, too? (I don't know if it's spoken there as a mothertongue or if it's a not-so-commonly used language or what). If you do speak Welsh, can you type a couple of sentences here? I just like how Welsh looks. When I read most European languages, I can understand at least a word here or there, but when I've seen Welsh, it seemed so different from everything else, and nothing looked "familiar". Also, are you on some kind of "Learn Finnish" course, or are you learning by talking with Finnish people online? (It's in my nature to be curious and ask a lot of questions )

I'm afraid I don't speak Welsh, not fluently anyway as I never had the chance to learn it. And yeah, the language is dying, there aren't even some Welsh people who can't speak it now, it's really only the older people and a few young people who learn it fluently. Welsh is an incredibly strange language, and quite hard to pronounce too. And no, I'm not on a learn Finnish course yet, I will be though if I successfully manage to move to Finland which is what I plan on doing. At the moment I just talk to a few Finns and I also have a CD/Book to learn from. Ok, a few Welsh sentences Cymru - Wales Heddiw ydy Dydd Mercher ~ Today is Wednesday Hylô, shw mae? ~ Hi, how are you? Tiikeri ydw I ~ I am Tiikeri Beth yw'ch enw chi? ~ What is your name? Dwi'n hoffi Ffindir ~ I like Finland Ydw ~ Yes Na ~ No Os gwelwch yn dda ~ Please Diolch (yn fawr) ~ Thank you (very much) Faint o'r gloch ydi? ~ What time is it? Bore da ~ Good morning Noswaith da ~ Good evening Nos da ~ Good night Twll dîn pob Sais! ~ Down with the English! (It's a popular phrase in Wales ) Thats all I can remember right now
